SpotEx Pay is here: take crypto payments for your business
Payment links, buttons, invoices, a point of sale, subscriptions, WooCommerce and WHMCS plugins and an API. Buyers pay from any wallet or their SpotEx balance, and you pay 0.5% per payment.

Today we are opening SpotEx Pay: a complete way for businesses, creators and communities to get paid in crypto. Shops, freelancers, game servers, hosting companies, streamers, clubs and charities can take payments on a website, at a counter, on an invoice or every month — with no code to write, or with a full API if you want one.
This post explains everything: how it works for you and for your buyers, every tool in the Merchant Center, what it costs, and how we keep it safe.
In short
- Anyone can pay you. Buyers send from any crypto wallet, or pay from their SpotEx balance in one tap. They don't need a SpotEx account.
- Price in your own currency. Dollars, euros, pounds, rupiah, naira and 32 more. The buyer picks a coin, and the rate is locked for 30 minutes.
- 0.5% per payment. No setup fee, no monthly fee, no chargebacks.
- Every way to get paid. Payment links, buttons and donation boxes, invoices, a point of sale for your counter, subscriptions, plugins for WooCommerce and WHMCS, and an API with libraries for Node.js, Python and PHP.
- Your own merchant wallet, apart from your trading balance, with refunds, mass payouts and a spreadsheet of every payment.
Getting started
- Open the Merchant section of your SpotEx account and apply: your business name, your website (if you have one) and what you sell. Most applications are approved straight away; some are checked by our team first.
- Accept the merchant terms.
- Choose the coins you want to accept, and your default currency.
- Make your first payment link, invoice or button — or connect your shop with a plugin or the API.
That's it. Payments land in your merchant wallet as they arrive.
How your buyers pay
When a buyer opens your payment page, they see your name, what they're paying for and the price in your currency. They pick a coin, and SpotEx shows the exact amount, locked at today's rate for 30 minutes.
From a SpotEx balance. A buyer with a SpotEx account pays in one tap, from $1, in any coin you accept. It is instant: you see the payment straight away. If the coin has fallen more than 1% since the price was quoted, the payment is refused and the buyer simply gets a fresh quote — so you are never paid less than you asked.
From any wallet. Anyone, with or without an account, can send from their own wallet:
- In the coins we run our own nodes for — like Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Peercoin — from $5.
- In USDT and other tokens, on each network we support them on, from $10 (or $50 on Ethereum itself, where network fees are highest). The buyer picks the network, and the page names it clearly.
Every payment gets an address of its own, so there is no memo or reference to get wrong. The page shows the address, the exact amount and a QR code, and follows the payment as it confirms.
If a buyer sends too little, SpotEx holds what arrived and shows them exactly what is left to send. They can send the rest in one or more transactions. You can wait for it, or accept what arrived as paid from your Merchant Center. You can also set a small allowance (for example 1%), so a payment a wallet fee short is accepted as paid automatically.
If nothing more arrives for 30 days, we pass what did arrive on to your merchant wallet, so it never sits with us for ever — but the order is not marked as paid. It stays open, and if the buyer sends the rest later, it is paid then.
If a buyer pays twice, the second payment is held and you decide: keep it, or refund it.
Prices in your own currency
Price anything in any of 37 currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD, CNY, HKD, SGD, KRW, INR, IDR, PHP, THB, MYR, VND, AED, SAR, TRY, ZAR, NGN, BRL and MXN. The full list is in the merchant documentation.
Your buyers see your price in your currency, and the coin amount is worked out from live exchange rates when they pay. Our rates come from more than one source and are checked against each other before they are used.
Everything in the Merchant Center
Payment links, buttons and donation boxes
Name what you sell and its price, and you get a link to share anywhere: in a chat, in a post, in a bio, on a poster as a QR code. Leave the price open and the buyer types the amount — perfect for tips, donations or "pay what you want".
The button builder makes a ready-made "Pay with SpotEx" button or a donation box for any website. Copy the snippet, paste it into your page, done. It is plain HTML, so it works on any site builder that lets you add your own HTML.
Invoices
Bill a customer for one or more items, each with its own quantity and price, add a note or your payment terms, and set a due date. Every invoice gets its own page that you share with your customer by link or by email from your own address. The invoice shows whether it is open, overdue or paid, and you can cancel an unpaid one at any time.
Point of sale
Turn any phone or tablet into a till. Open the point of sale on the device, type the amount, and your customer scans the QR code to pay — from their wallet or their SpotEx balance. The screen follows the payment and shows when it's done. Each sale is open for 15 minutes, and the device shows the day's paid sales so you can check them against your counter.
You can connect up to 20 devices and switch any of them off from the Merchant Center.
Subscriptions
Charge the same amount every week, month or year. Make a plan, share its page, and SpotEx users subscribe from their balance in a couple of taps.
- Each period is charged automatically from the subscriber's balance.
- For monthly and yearly plans, subscribers are reminded three days before each charge.
- If a charge fails (for example, not enough balance), we try again the next day, up to three times, before the subscription ends.
- Subscribers can see and cancel their subscriptions at any time under Wallets → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops all future charges immediately.
Pay many people at once
Pay affiliates, staff, contributors or prize winners from a spreadsheet. Upload a CSV with who gets what, check the list, and send it in one go — to SpotEx users by username or email (instantly), or to any address on-chain. Every line goes through the same checks as a single payout, and a list can never be paid twice.
Receive everything as one coin
If you would rather not hold many coins, choose one — for example USDT — and every payment in another coin is sold on our spot market as it lands, within 2% of the market price. The total fee is 1% on what is converted (the 0.5% payment fee included). If a conversion can't happen at a fair price, you simply keep the coin you were paid in, and the extra fee is returned.
Refunds
Refund any payment, in full or in part, from your Merchant Center: back to the buyer's SpotEx balance, or to any address.
Your records
Every payment is listed with its coin, amount, fee and what reached you. Export everything as a spreadsheet for your accounts. You get a notification for every sale.
Your merchant wallet
Payments land in a merchant wallet of your own, separate from your trading balance, so your shop's money and your trading never mix. Move funds to your Spot balance whenever you like, to trade or withdraw.
The merchant directory
Want buyers to find you? Ask to be listed in the SpotEx merchant directory: your name, a short description, your website and the coins you accept. It's free, and buyers looking for places to spend their crypto will see you there.
For your website
WooCommerce
The SpotEx Pay plugin for WooCommerce adds crypto to your WordPress shop's checkout, for the classic and the block checkout. Orders stay in your shop's currency and are marked paid automatically. Install it from the repository's zip, paste your key, and you're done.
WHMCS
The SpotEx Pay module for WHMCS lets hosting companies and service providers take crypto for invoices. Your clients press Pay on the invoice, pay on SpotEx, and the invoice is marked paid automatically.
Both are free and open source. An order or invoice is only ever marked paid by SpotEx's signed confirmation, never because a buyer came back to your site.
The API
If you build your own checkout, the merchant API gives you everything:
- Checkout sessions: send a buyer to SpotEx Pay with one call, and get them back on your site when they've paid.
- Checkouts in your own design: get an address and an exact amount, and show them in your own pages.
- Webhooks: your server hears about every payment, signed so you can be sure it came from us.
- Invoices, plans and subscriptions, payouts to SpotEx users and to addresses, and your balance.
- Test mode: test keys (
sk_test_) make pretend payments you can complete with a button, so you can build and test your integration without real money.
Official libraries for Node.js, Python and PHP check webhook signatures and handle idempotency keys for you.

Built to be safe
For merchants:
- Crypto payments can't be charged back. Once a payment is yours, it's yours.
- A payment counts as paid only when the full amount has confirmed on its network — or when you accept it.
- API keys that can send money must be tied to your servers' IP addresses, and payouts can be limited to addresses you have whitelisted.
- Payouts up to $1,000 each (and $5,000 a day) go out automatically; larger ones are checked by our team first.
- You get an email whenever a key, your webhook or your whitelist changes.
For buyers:
- Every payment page shows exactly who you are paying, what for, and how much.
- Merchants take payments under our merchant terms, and we can suspend a merchant at any time.
- The money paid to merchants is part of our daily proof of reserves, anchored on the Peercoin blockchain.
Questions
Do my buyers need a SpotEx account? No. Anyone can pay from their own wallet. Buyers who have a SpotEx account can also pay from their balance in one tap.
How fast do I get paid? Payments from a SpotEx balance are instant. Payments from a wallet arrive once they have confirmed on their network — a few minutes for most coins.
Can I accept only some coins? Yes. You choose exactly which coins you accept, and you can change them at any time.
What happens if a buyer pays in the wrong network or coin? Each payment page states the coin and network clearly. If something goes wrong, open a support ticket and we will help.
Is there a minimum or a contract? No contract, no minimum volume, no monthly fee. You pay 0.5% only when you get paid.
Can I test it first? Yes: make a test key in the Merchant Center under Developers, and every payment is pretend until you switch to a live key.
